On the fifth day of Kwanzaa, we celebrate Nia - purpose. This principle calls us to collectively make it our job to build and develop our community in order to restore our people to their traditional greatness.
Time to check-in on our progress toward purpose. This is an opportunity for our family to:
- Assess community needs - here my wife and I read our city council's meeting minutes, newsletters from our district and state representatives, review the city's master plan, and hold meetings with community members through our non-profit to discuss community direction.
- Decide on community action (short-term and long-term) and organize resources to execute
- As a family, assess our personal journeys as a family and offer support to one another
- Listen to inspirational songs and messages
